Obama A Super Hero

According to the marvel comics “The Amazing Spider-Man” written and made by Zeb Wells, Todd Nauck, and Frank D’Armata, they state a great argument about President Obama and how they think he is a good president. They argue that President Obama is doing a great job of being president and that Washington is in good capable hands. They show this through a comic strip and having Spiderman be good friends with President Obama. I don’t think that the article is believable because they are just stating their opinion on how they like Obama when not everyone thinks that. People’s views are all different in this comic they just state their side of the argument and not anything about the other side. The do prove their point of the argument by ending with having Spiderman saying that everything is in good hand because President Obama is president. The strategies the authors used were making Spiderman part of the comic which is a great idea because people love Spiderman and it will grab their attention. It worked very well because it grab my attention and made me want to read it because it looked interesting with President Obama and Spiderman all in one topic.
The author’s used good strategies by using a lot of color which made the comic look cooler and more entertaining to look at. The used a big special design font for the title that makes it look like it’s a super hero comic book because it looks like the super hero ones. The used good graphic pictures of everything they talked about in the argument which made it easy for us to picture it. One of the main really good strategies they had was putting this type of argument that wouldn’t usually be very exciting into a comic with Spiderman because it will grab the attention of all ages and anyone who like Spiderman which most people do. Overall the author did a pretty good job on presenting his argument by using a marvel comic with Spiderman to state how the like President Obama.

Gun Dealers vs. Video Game Nerds

According to the satirical cartoon “The Boondocks” by Aaron McGruder , he stats a very good argument on video games. He argues that if people are so worried about kids and violence with the video games and kids using guns, why don’t they go to the gun manufacturers and gun dealers instead of the people who make the video games and complain about it to them? (pg. 298)
This is a very believable article because it is true, parents do complain about the video games and how they are going to introduce violence to kids and may cause the kids to use guns. The article is believable because someone could be having a conversation on this topic at anytime and it probably has been a major topic for people. How its believable is Aaron uses young teenagers to announce the argument which probably would be true in most cases on who would be discussing this topic.
In this article the author does a great job of proving her point by giving good evidence and reasoning to the arguable topic by stating that, “Who would you rather start beef with—some nerd who makes video games or some dude with a warehouse full of Ak-47s.” (pg. 298)This reasoning makes total sense and is very believable because why would anyone want to mess with people who have a warehouse full of guns?
The strategies the author uses in this argument is putting it into a cartoon to make it more interesting and making it visual for people, so it’s easier and more exciting to read. It does work better I think if it’s in a cartoon because it’s short and sweet. People aren’t going to want to read a 3 page essay on this topic because it would get boring very quickly. The author did a great job on using teenagers as the main characters in the argument cartoon because this topic is aimed toward teenagers. Overall the author did a good job with his strategies because it did a good job on grabbing my attention, that’s why I picked to read it.

Freewrite: Why Horror Films?

Horror is an overwhelming and painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; a shuddering fear. So why do people enjoying watching horror films? I don’t understand why you would want to feel overwhelmed and be in fear just because you enjoy watching a horror movie. People must have really sick minds if they enjoy people getting slaughtered, beaten, and tortured by other people in such movies. What drives them to watch movies like these? What do they enjoy about it? I talked to a lot of my friends that like to watch horror movies and they said they like them because they are funny cause of how unreal they are. To me that makes no sense. How is it funny to watch people die unwillingly? They say that the movies are not true and so unreal but if you really thing about it, there are people that are killing other people out there just like in these movies. Since 1960 to 2010 the crime rate has went up by 305,361,338. There are some crazy people out there that have or will do terrible things to people and it not even affect them. That’s why I think it’s a horrible idea for people to let their brains watch horror movies because I think it could someday have an impact on people in the future if they watch too many of them. Maybe by watching them it may cause them to think that maybe it’s ok to do these because it’s funny to them. Hopefully no one is thinking like that when they watch horror films but we will never know because everyone is different and has their own thoughts.
