Running Free

Everyday I see more and more young kids running around town by themselves with no adult keeping track of them and watching what they do. I think this is one the main reason kids are so out of control now days because they run free by themselves all the time. Today both parents work so there is no one to stay home and watch the kids. They do whatever they want because they have no parents there to watch their every move. I think that this is a terrible idea for parents to let their kids do that because when kids are alone with other kids nothing good happens. When I was in high school a lot of people I went to school with, both their parents work so they were always home by themselves after school. This gave them the freedom to have their boyfriends over and a lot of them would have sex while their parents were at work. One if the girls that would do that actually got pregnant. This is why teenagers or even young kids should never be left alone at home. Parents should hire someone to watch over them or have them go to a relative’s house until they get off work. This would prevent a lot of accidents from happening and help keep kids more obedient instead of being out of control and from thinking they can do whatever. Parents need to realize that leaving their kids at home alone can put them in harm.

Married Young

Is getting married young a good idea? I think young adults should wait at least till there 23 or 24 to get married. So many kids now days are getting engaged while they are still in high school or as soon as they graduate. I don’t think they realize how difficult that will be trying to raise money for a house, car, ect. while they are still trying to pay for schooling as well. My parents were 19 when they got married and had me; they said it was very hard financial wise being so young and trying to live on their own and having started a family. My mom started college and only made it one semester because it was too hard to balance school and try to have a full time job to help pay off some of the payments they had. My dad never made it to college either because he had to have a full time job as well to help support his family. He didn’t end up later go back to school a get his degree in electrical when they were more financially supported. Now that I’m getting older and I’m at the age that they got married; they are always tell me to finish out with school and make some money while working and then get married after because now days everything is so expensive. If you have a degree in something and you have a stable full time job, it will help you so much more to get married then, then get married real young.  There is not a huge rush to getting married fast and when you’re young. The person that is the right one for you will understand and think a good idea to wait until both of you are stable in life.

Problem With Schools

In this editorial cartoon by Gary Varvel it shows how schools are only caring about their sports, extracurricular activities, and are not giving the education that kids need. This is a very good argument because this is a huge deal that people need to look at. Kids are not getting the right education they need in high school and not getting the help they need either so more and more are failing. This editorial cartoon is believable because it states a good argument and the argument is something that is really occurring now days in schools. The author proves her point by showing the emotions of the cartoon characters. Also by stating the fact that principle is only caring about the sport facilities they have at the school, than caring about the parent’s child who is failing. The strategy the author uses in this cartoon is using a black and white sketchy look with great artistic skill and technique. He uses good strategy in showing emotions on the characters faces which explains how they are feeling about the discussion they are having. The author uses a creative font that fits well to the topic of the argument and it’s a young stylish. He uses a good strategy by using parents and a principle to display this type or argument because it wouldn’t have made a good argument or got the point of the argument if children or teenagers would be in the ones talking to the principle in his office. Overall this is a good argument that was displayed very well with good skills and strategies.

Drinking Age

Should the drinking age be changed? In a lot of other countries the drinking age is a lot lower like ages 16 or 18. Should we change are to be like theirs or should the drinking and driving ages be higher? I believe that the drinking age should be lowered to the age of 18 because that’s when you become a legalized adult. If you are able to vote for someone who is going to rule our country at age 18, you should be able to make the decision to drink or not to drink and make good decisions when doing it. They say that your brain doesn’t fully develop until the age of 21 and the part of the brain that doesn’t develop until then is the part that helps you make good decisions. So I can see why people wouldn’t want to change the drinking age any younger. There are so many kids that don’t wait till their 21 to drink and some still drink and drive. I think by making the drinking age to 18 would be better because if kids could legally drink, it wouldn’t be very much for them. A lot of kids drink just because they can and they want to be rebellious. If you’re under age and you want to drink, then you’ll drink no matter if the drinking age is 21. I think by making the drinking age lower would keep kids safer because they wouldn’t have to hide it from their parents and do stupid things like driving drunk home which puts other people in danger as well. This is a big decision to think about and there are pros and cons to having the drinking age higher and lower but I just believe that it should be lowered and see what kind of results it has.

Obama A Super Hero

According to the marvel comics “The Amazing Spider-Man” written and made by Zeb Wells, Todd Nauck, and Frank D’Armata, they state a great argument about President Obama and how they think he is a good president. They argue that President Obama is doing a great job of being president and that Washington is in good capable hands. They show this through a comic strip and having Spiderman be good friends with President Obama. I don’t think that the article is believable because they are just stating their opinion on how they like Obama when not everyone thinks that. People’s views are all different in this comic they just state their side of the argument and not anything about the other side. The do prove their point of the argument by ending with having Spiderman saying that everything is in good hand because President Obama is president. The strategies the authors used were making Spiderman part of the comic which is a great idea because people love Spiderman and it will grab their attention. It worked very well because it grab my attention and made me want to read it because it looked interesting with President Obama and Spiderman all in one topic.
The author’s used good strategies by using a lot of color which made the comic look cooler and more entertaining to look at. The used a big special design font for the title that makes it look like it’s a super hero comic book because it looks like the super hero ones. The used good graphic pictures of everything they talked about in the argument which made it easy for us to picture it. One of the main really good strategies they had was putting this type of argument that wouldn’t usually be very exciting into a comic with Spiderman because it will grab the attention of all ages and anyone who like Spiderman which most people do. Overall the author did a pretty good job on presenting his argument by using a marvel comic with Spiderman to state how the like President Obama.
